Composed of hundreds of fragments, of which Fernando Pessoa published only twelve, the main narrator of this book is the semi-heteronym Bernardo Soares. Oscillating between themes such as variations in his psychic state, passion, morals and knowledge, the book does not present a linear narrative; rather, it is composed of several passages and parts that are articulated in a more or less open way. Even so, it is Pessoa's work that comes closest to the novel.
